Is it magical mind trickery?
Is it magical mind trickery?
Well I'll tell you what it isn't, it's not some mysterious, scary, starey eyed man swinging a watch and saying 'you are feeling very sleepy'. It's simply as I say to many of my clients 'close your eyes and think about stuff'.
What many people fail to understand is that we spend most of our lives in a trance, in fact a remarkable 80% of the time our unconscious (trance state)is steering us through our day, helping us take 'mental short cuts' and enabling us to achieve the many things we need to in order to live a productive and safe life.
Have you ever taken a drive to work/school and only upon arrival realised that you have driven the last few miles completely oblivious to your journey? (of course you have but don't worry, we all do it).
What exactly was going on? Well your unconscious, which has already driven the route on many occasions, kinda 'took over' allowing you to think about what's for dinner, where am I going to park? or 'who put the ram in the ram-a-lam-a-ding dong?'
Your unconscious is your personal safety mechanism. It exists to keep you safe and alive and it will never do anything to compromise your safety however there is a problem with it's design, well several really.
The long and short of it is, your mind (unconscious) bases how it keeps you safe by using significant emotional events that have happened to you over the course of your life. Brand new events which have happened to you to which your unconscious has had to make a 'is this a move towards pleasure or away from pain?' decision.
The problem is you come across most things in your life for the first time when you are young and one the younger you came across a SEE it had to make a decision based on nowhere near enough information (you haven't 'lived enough' yet).
Your mind will then use it's decision to keep you 'safe' for the rest of your life.
If you come and see me as a client I will explain in much greater detail the machinations of your mind and how, using some amazing techniques, we together wil help you move towards a happier, healthier future no longer dragging the baggage of the past around with you anymore.
I know you will find the process so very very liberating because I have seen it happen hundreds of times already.
It's not magic, you never ever 'lose control' (your unconscious mind, your safety mechanism as it were, would absolutely not let that happen) and it all happens in comfortable, safe surroundings (at St Peter's Community Centre).
